Living in London: Life, Love and Celebrities

Posted by abohan 0 komentar

With the imminent nuptials of Brangelina on the horizon and Rihanna partying it up in the UK capital, living in London is becoming increasingly attractive by the day. It isn’t hard to see why more and more of Hollywood’s finest are packing up and moving ship to the royal city.

A cultural hub of entertainment and diversity, London has everything from palaces, to elite sport stadiums, and some of the very best exhibitions that the world of art and theatre has to offer.

Top 5 Celebrities Living in London
  • Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: The engaged power couple are currently residing in Richmond for the next two years. Both have described the area as a beautiful part of the World. After last year’s spectacular footage from Kate and William’s royal wedding, many Londoners are waiting with bated breaths to hear whether Brangelina will tie the knot in the capital

New rumours indicate that the glamorous pair is considering an intimate ceremony at the Windsor register – where Camilla and Charles and Elton John and David Furnish made their union official. One thing's for sure, living in London has never looked so attractive as when the Brangelina clan moved to town.
  • Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin: Living in a London estate that was previously owned by Kate Winslet, the Hollywood couple have been residing in Belsize Park for many years now. First transforming Winslet’s prior town house into a 33-room mansion, both Paltrow and Martin have lended more star-power to the neighbourhood by bringing their fame and glamour to stay.
  • Madonna: Owning multiple properties in the capital, one can only imagine the figure that Madonna has invested in London real estate. Madge’s Marylebone home alone is worth £10 million. Without having to worry about cost, living in London is clearly the Queen of Pop’s idea of the royal treatment.

And quick frankly, it’s difficult to disagree with her. Making waves in the music industry on a daily basis, Madonna’s presence in the UK capital is a legitimate nod in the city’s favour.

What is it like Living in London?

It’s celeb-tastic. While the consistent high volume of celebrity real estate on the market indicates their temperamental natures when it comes to putting down roots, the rich and famous definitely like to stick together when it comes to choosing certain neighbourhoods and cities over others.

Their priorities usually extend to prime locations, large properties and good security. When it comes to living in central London most celebrities favour Camden, Chelsea and Notting Hill. So if you’re interested in having Kate Moss as a neighbour – make London your next port of call.

Charlize Theron Entrances Shaved Head In Namibia

Posted by abohan Kamis, 28 Juni 2012 0 komentar
Her good look transcends hairstyles, and Charlize Theron confirmed that point by showing off her shaved head in Namibia last Sunday (June 24).

Joined by her darling son Jackson, the “Italian Job” actress smiled for the shutterbugs as she made her way around city.

Charlize chopped her blonde locks a few weeks ago in preparation for her new gig on the cast of “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

As for the current trend for screen actors to try stage shows, Theron explained, “I’m just not made for that kind of live audience where you don’t create a fourth wall.

I take my hat off to those guys. It’s not disconnected enough for me. Some people are good at performing in front of people like that, but I’m uncomfortable with it.”

The Best of London's Most Iconic Films

Posted by abohan 0 komentar

London is a city captured throughout the ages in literature, paintings, and now in cinema. Its historic buildings, famous monuments and striking skyline have all set the scene for some of British cinema's most iconic moments.

Oliver Twist (1948)

David Lean's gritty take on Dickens' most famous novel shows a decaying London far removed from the vibrant technicolour of the musical version. Alec Guinness' transformation into Fagin is matched by the film's recreation of key locations from the East End to London Bridge; all of which were filmed inside Pinewood studios.

James Bond films (from 1962)

London has always set the scene for Britain's most famous celluloid spy. But in recent years the capital has taken a starring role, most notably in The World Is Not Enough with Pierce Brosnan's unforgettable speedboat chase down the Thames to the Millennium Dome. And with a gun-toting, suited Daniel Craig spotted in full flight around London’s streets recently, it looks as though the capital is set to feature prominently in the upcoming release, Skyfall.

Hard Day's Night (1964)

The Beatles may have inadvertently pioneered both the music video and the mockumentary genre in this comedy about the Fab Four travelling from Liverpool to play a London concert. Taking in a whole host of locations from Paddington Station to the Hammersmith Odeon, Ringo even manages to get himself lost all the way out in Twickenham – where he dives into the Turk's Head pub!

Alfie (1966)
During the Swinging Sixties, London was a hotbed of artistic creativity, fashion and style. But this was a film which depicted the city with a gritty realism, and through Michael Caine’s young, care-free protagonist, explored some important gender and social issues. As the narrative unfolds, Alfie begins to realise the consequences of his lifestyle and decides to change, only to be confounded in the film’s memorable final scene, filmed on Waterloo Bridge.

Sherlock Holmes films (from 1970)

Sherlock Holmes is a franchise which virtually guarantees success: from Basil Rathbone to Robert Downey Junior. The continued popularity of the character and his mysteries is one reason why his residence at 221b Baker Street is still one of London's biggest tourist attractions.

Notting Hill (1999)

The unashamedly sentimental romantic comedy sees Julia Roberts as a Hollywood film star who falls in love with bookshop owner Hugh Grant, all set in – you guessed it – Notting Hill. The numerous street scenes filmed on location popularised the idea of Notting Hill being the place to be in 1990s London.

Harry Potter films (from 2001)

The most successful movie franchise in history boasts a cavalcade of British film stars. But the magical tale of a young boy who becomes a wizard begins humbly at King's Cross station. The amazing scene where Harry discovers a hidden “Platform nine-and-three-quarters” had tourists flocking to the station, and a signpost to the platform was added – so that even Muggles would be able to find it!

The King's Speech (2010)

The surprise success of this low key royal drama earned Colin Firth the attention – and the accolades – that he had deserved for so long. His performance as a stammering George VI was matched by the sumptuous scenery and the dingy urban apartments. From Logue's consultancy room in Elephant and Castle to Regent's Park and Lancaster House (standing in for Buckingham Palace), the King's Speech offered a visually broad sweep of 1930s London.

From the everyday to the extraordinary, the urban to the fantastical; London has set the scene for countless cinematic moments that have defined every era of the cinema.

Celebrity News - Celebrity Chefs Are in Big Demand

Posted by abohan 0 komentar
They would work away in a restaurant kitchen, out of view of the diners and certainly out of mind. They were low paid and under-appreciated. The customers did not care who was making their food, all that interested them was the quality. If it was good, they came back. If it was not, they didn’t.

But then came the beginning of celebrity chefs, and then the attack.

Julia Child, who wasn’t really a chef, Jacques Pepin, and Graham Kerr were the first. In the 1980s, Paul Prudhomme became celebrated as he popularized Cajun cuisine. For a while, it seemed as if you couldn’t turn on your TV without seeing him.

And that was ahead of television networks dedicated entirely to cooking. Folks started watching that, and a whole class of people who were just chefs soon became … stars.

Here is how crazy it has become: Say your corporation wants a celebrity to appear at your annual retreat, or maybe for the big Christmas party. Perhaps you belong to an association that is looking for a big name to draw members to the closing night of your convention. Everybody loves Paula Deen, right? More

She will come to talk to your meeting for a minimum of $100,000 to $150,000.
If you’re looking for a manlier vibe, you can shell out the same amount for Bobby Flay. Ditto Emeril Lagasse.
